Peru El Chaupe

Bourbon, Caturra, Typica, Mundo Novo, Catimor
Apr. – Sept. ’20

Deep sweetness that reminds us of nougat, a round acidity like candied plums, and lightly floral notes of citrus blossom. We think this coffee performs best brewed as a single cup through a filter, batch brew, or single origin espresso in shorter milk drinks to highlight the acidity.

Origin: El Chaupe Cooperative, San Ignacio, Cajamarca, Peru

San Ignacio is by far one of our favorite terroirs in all Latin America. There’s something special about the coffee that grows there, along with the attention to detail of the growers. More than 90% of the coffees we’ve sourced from Peru over the past years have come from this microclimate. This lot from El Chaupe Cooperative is round, flavorful, and deeply sweet; it’s a pleasure to drink whether you’re a seasoned coffee pro or new to specialty.
