Origin: 141 smallholder farmers in Sana’a Governorate, organized around Pearl of Tehama, Haraz Mountains, Sana’a Governorate, Yemen
A rare purchase for us from one of the very first coffee-growing origins! We rarely buy coffees from Yemen due to the logistics of getting them stateside, and the cost of getting them in your cup, but this year we splashed out a little and bought enough for a (limited) home barista and wholesale quantity. Most of these coffees are grown by small farmers and dried through the traditional natural process on their own rooftops, resulting in a fruit-forward, winey cup. This particular lot was grown and babied from harvest to shipping by a company, KCSAD, which aims to promote high-quality Yemeni coffee in the same way Hawaiian coffee is. Their care and attention results in this cup displaying beautiful, rich flavors of intense red fruit and long sweetness. A must-try!
