The Good Food Awards are the most-prestigious award we could hope to win as specialty coffee roasters. The GFAs are determined by a nationally recognized committee that annually celebrates exceptional, sustainably sourced products in 17 different categories – one of which is coffee. To submit a coffee for competition, the selection must now pass a rigorous screening in order to ensure it is being produced in a fair manner for everyone involved at the farm level.
Over 2,000 entries came in this year, the top 10% of which were selected as high-scorers. The best of those top-10% were selected as finalists for their region – we’re honored to have our presentation of Bedhatu Jibicho’s coffee as a Winner for the US Southwest!
In 2018 we won for a washed Ethiopian coffee from the Banko Gotiti Cooperative; this year we challenged ourselves to win with a different kind of coffee, and were happy to have tasted an exceptional dry-processed selection.
We are the only Los Angeles roaster to have won this award since 2013, and the only roaster Ever to have won it twice. Thank you for pushing us to keep competing and have higher standards with every roast.
